Lastu Bed and Breakfast – On the Shores of Orivesi in Puhos, Kitee
The former particleboard factory developed this area as a corporate representative facility, where important negotiations and meetings of the time often took place—in the sauna. Over the years, the purpose of the buildings has evolved, transitioning into tourism and recreational use. The City of Kitee owns the land and buildings, while Lastun Paikat is managed by Lakeland Karelia Oy, a tourism service company based in Kitee.
The area features a main building with an electric sauna, a traditional Finnish kota (hut), a smoke sauna, a bunker with its service building, a swimming pier, and a winter ice hole for swimming. The buildings are connected by boardwalks that meander through the natural forest terrain.
Rentable Bedrooms
The main building of Lastu offers three different bedrooms for short-term rental, and one accommodation room is an atmospheric dugout. The main building features shared access to a living room, kitchen, two toilets, a washing machine, dryer, dressing room, shower room, and electric sauna. The lake shores are available for shared use by all tenants.
Bedroom 1: A small bedroom in the main building with a pull-out sofa bed, blackout curtains, light, a mirror, and awardrobe. Max 2 people.
Bedroom 2: A small bedroom in the main building with two beds, blackout curtains, lights, a mirror, and a wardrobe. Max 2 people.
Bedroom 3: The largest bedroom in the main building, featuring two bunk beds (accommodating four people), blackout curtains, light, a mirror, and a "closet" for clothes. Max 4 people.
Bedroom 4: Dugout accommodation - a spacious and atmospheric log room built into a hillside, equipped with a sofa bed and an extra bed, accommodating up to three people. Features include opening window shutters, lake views, a fireplace, a large farmhouse table, running cold water, a dish cabinet, a refrigerator, an electric kettle, and a coffee maker. Includes access to the shores and shared facilities in the main building. Next to the dugout, there is a service building with firewood and a designated dry toilet for bunker tenants. Max 3 people.
