Rowing tour with Aurora church boat to Mantsi Shoal at lake Puruvesi

Puruvesi is one of the clearest lakes in Finland and Europe. One of its special features is the Mantsi Shoal, which occasionally rises to the surface in the middle of the lake. The distance to the nearest mainland is about 2 km. The atmosphere on the shoal is unique and must be experienced.

From Kesälahti, rowing or canoeing trips to Mantsi Shoal are only made in good weather. The lake is long and weather conditions can change rapidly. The booking calendar contains ready-made excursion dates, which can be changed due to possible weather conditions.

The Aurora church boat has an atmosphere

The beautifully gliding, wooden Aurora church boat can accommodate 14 rowers, one for the ship's dog (bow seat without oar), and a coxswain. The trips are relaxed rowing excursions, by no means hard racing. You get to know new people with the same spirit, the aim is to find a common rowing rhythm, group dynamics usually develop in a happy direction with a common goal, fitness improves, and nature thanks you.

The Mantsi Shoal experience

During the excursion, the excitement is to see if the shoal is underwater or on top and to find it. The shoal is up to 80 meters long, so we usually get to experience the thrill of discovery. Whether the shoal is below or above the surface, you have to experience it and get out of the church boat onto the shoal to walk and even swim. With the shoal in sight, it is a popular picnic spot and one of the most spectacular places to experience the sunset in calm weather. We spend as much time on the shoal as the group needs to refresh, taking photos and videos as a souvenir. Afterward, we climb back on the boat and row back to the fishing harbor. The total rowing distance is about 10 km, duration of the tour is about 1,5 hours.

Departure port in Kesälahti

Choose your departure date when booking, we leave from the Kesälahti fishing harbor at 17.00. It's a good idea to arrive at the departure point at least 15 minutes in advance for departure preparations. The address of the fishing harbor is Väärämäentie 53 C, 59800 Kesälahti. There is plenty of parking space in the area. Please leave your car so that it does not interfere with other traffic.

Rowing tour and the price 20€

The price includes the oar seat, coxswain's services, buoyancy aids, and company insurance for the excursions. Any cancellations must be notified at least 3 hours before departure by SMS or WhatsApp.

You can only book your oar seat here in the online shop and pay with a card or cash at the departure. Bookings can be made by calling us or by Whatsapp/text message. If the excursion is canceled due to weather conditions, we will offer a new date to replace it. Tours will be organized only in good weather conditions.
