Rowing trip with Aurora church boat from Piikkeensalmi in Kesälahti to Papinniemi in Uukuniemi
The bicycles will be transported to the other shore by van.
Karelian Pyhäjärvi is one of the most beautiful and diverse lakes in Finland. Islands, history, culture, activities, fishermen, hunters, rock paintings, the eastern border, desert villages, Suitsa, and much more can be found on this clear-water lake. The shores have magnificent white sandy beaches. Simply a stunning lake that you could wander around all summer.
The Aurora church boat has the atmosphere
The beautifully gliding, wooden Aurora church boat can accommodate 14 rowers, one ship's dog (no oar, bow seat), and a mate. The trips are relaxed rowing excursions, by no means hard racing. You get to know new people with the same spirit, the aim is to find a common rowing rhythm, group dynamics usually develop in a happy direction with a common goal, fitness improves, and nature thanks you.
Moving from Kesälahti Piike guest marina to Papinnieme in Uukuniemi
We meet in Kesälahti at the Piikkeensalmi guest marina on Lake Pyhäjärvi in Karelia, located on the left side before the Sarvisalonsaari bridge (Sarvisalontie 39 59800 Kesälahti).
We pack the bicycles into the van and sit down on the Aurora church boat, where we row about 10 km to the Papinniemi campsite in Uukuniemi, where the van will bring the bicycles. During the rowing tour, we will take breaks if necessary.
Be prepared with suitable clothing, cycling gloves work well in rowing and prevent water strikes if your technique is not quite under control.
Arriving at Papinniemi, the rowing trip takes about an hour to a little over an hour, depending on the speed and breaks. On arrival at the Papinniemi campsite, first, pick up your bike from the car park next to the restaurant. Then you can head to the stunning beaches for a swim or to enjoy the beach life, the restaurant offers relief for the hungry and thirsty.
Rowing
The price includes bicycle transport by van to the opposite shore in Uukuniemi, a rowing tour in a church boat, the services of a mate, life jackets, a water bottle, and insurance. Weather permitting, in case of bad weather we do not take our guests out on the lakes. Possible cancellations must be notified at least 3 hours before departure by SMS or WhatsApp. The crossing of the lake is possible if there are at least 6 cyclists/rowers in total.

Book your place in advance (church boat & bike transport) by Whatsapp, SMS, or by calling Lakeland Kareli. If you wish, you can buy your place in advance via our online shop. The maximum number of participants is 14, i.e. as many oars as there are rowers. Participation is payable at the starting point in cash or by debit/credit card.
