Guided glide snowshoe trip in the North Karelia wilderness

Departures every Saturday at 12:00 from Hellaniemi in Kesälahti, address Hellaniementie 21, 59800 Kesälahti.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to get dressed in the equipment. Be prepared with weather-appropriate clothing that is comfortable and flexible for outdoor activities. The duration of the trip, including sauna time, is estimated to be about 3 hours.

The guide will lead the group through the terrain of Sortalammi, next to Hellaniemi, according to the skills of the group. We will move and enjoy the beautiful nature, take pictures for memories, and take breaks if necessary. Bring drinks and snacks to enjoy either during the trip and/or after the sauna.

After the trip, a traditional sauna is available at Hellaniemi on the shore of the wilderness lake. The small sauna is heated with wood, the water is heated in a pot, and you can jump into the wilderness lake's ice hole via stairs. Bring a swimsuit, towel, shampoo, and something warm to put on after the sauna.

It is possible to agree on other departure times, please contact us in that case.

Skin-based glide snowshoes (or trekking skis) have many names and we call them to glide snowshoes. They have a combination of the best features of forest skis and snowshoes. Let's try!

The snow covers holes and stones – let snowshoeing begin! A person who knows how to walk will easily learn how to snowshoe and will be able to enjoy the magic of winterly nature. Elevations, snow conditions, and personal speed will offer challenges for each of the hiker’s needs and desires. Snowshoeing represents the top of ecologic activity/exercise. The guides will teach you how to snowshoe and will lead you through the interesting and beautiful scenery of the wilderness of North Karelia. The price includes snowshoes, necessary safety equipment, and guides with their liability insurance. The hiking trip lasts a maximum of 2 hours, depending on the endurance of the group. At the end of the trip, we offer a hot drink by an open fire.

Snowshoe trips will take place if there are at least three participants. The maximum group size is 5. For larger groups on request, please contact us.
