The scent of smoke drifts gently in the air, the lake lies calm, and the steam is soft and soothing. A sauna evening at Lastun Paikat on the shores of Lake Orivesi offers an authentic Finnish sauna experience in the peace of nature – exactly the way sauna bathing is meant to be.

You can choose a traditional smoke sauna, an electric sauna, or enjoy both during the same evening. You can also refresh yourself with a dip in the ice hole!

An atmospheric sauna world by the lake

Lastun Paikat’s sauna area is located on the shores of Lake Orivesi in Puhos, Kitee. The area is quiet and secluded, with no neighbours in sight. The buildings are connected by illuminated wooden boardwalks winding through natural forest terrain.

The area includes a main building with lounge facilities, a cozy Lappish hut, a turf-roofed smoke sauna, and a dugout embedded into a hillside. There is plenty of parking space.

Smoke sauna – slow and gentle steam

The turf-roofed smoke sauna was designed by master builder Oiva Karjalainen and accommodates approximately 10–15 people. It is built from sunken logs salvaged from the waters near Savonlinna.

The steam in the smoke sauna is soft and long-lasting. A well-heated smoke sauna offers wonderfully relaxing sauna sessions for hours – sometimes even into the next morning, depending on weather conditions.

The smoke sauna is equipped with a hand shower, a small terrace in front of the sauna, and a window with a beautiful view of the lake.

Electric sauna and other facilities

The main building features a spacious electric sauna that accommodates approximately 12 people, available to sauna guests in addition to the smoke sauna. The electric sauna area also includes two showers and comfortable lounge spaces with fireplaces.

The swimming jetty is about 50 metres from the main building and approximately 70 metres from the smoke sauna.

Practical information for the sauna evening

• Check-in takes place at the café in the main building

• Sauna time is approximately 1.5 hours

• In addition to the hand shower in the smoke sauna, the electric sauna and showers in the main building are available

• Seat covers (peflets) and washing products are included in the price

What to bring

The smoke sauna is mixed-gender, so please bring a swimsuit, towel, swimming shoes/water shoes/wool socks, and a good mood. You may also bring your own drinks and snacks to enjoy after your sauna session.

A fire will be lit in the living room fireplace, where you are welcome to grill your own sausages.

Prices, booking, and payment

The price of the sauna evening is €20 per person, and children under 15 attend free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

Please book your spot via the online store. If you wish to pay on site, select Booking Request during checkout. If you choose Online Payment, you will pay in advance through the online store.

Sauna sessions start at 15:00, 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00.
Each session lasts approximately 1.5 hours and has a maximum of 15 participants.

The most important information for us is how many participants are attending and which time slot you choose. In case of cancellation, we kindly ask you to notify us – no cancellation fees apply.
